Nasturtiums are easy to grow and edible🌺 They also naturally trap garden pests such as aphids & leaf miners...Beautiful and practical 😀
A lovely ornamental pepper plant in our victory garden, just for fun. 🙂🌶️🌶️🌶️A lovely ornamental pepper plant in our victory garden, just for fun. 🙂🌶️🌶️🌶️
If you saw that overachieving strawberry plant from our Aug 1 post, these are its babies!🍓😮🍓 So the poor little first strawberry it produced got smooshed by accident, so we decided to smoosh it more into some soil to see if it would grow...and voila! It germinated in only 9 days, which is way above the mean! 🥇
Yay for mealworm frass! It's a great veggie booster! 🐛 We were excited to have a nice haul for @ftndurham this past week: kale (11 lbs), cucumbers (1.5 lbs) beefsteak tomatoes (8 lbs), cherry tomatoes (2.25 lbs), eggplant (1 lb), butternut squash (10 lbs), green beans (2.25 lbs), & wax beans (1 lb), so that's 37 lbs altogether!🥦🍆🍅
We'll see how long we can keep this going...🍂 Please support your local food bank! Round 2: Our 2nd generation of cukes and zukes that we started mid-July for a fall harvest are coming along, boosted with our very own mealworm frass as always 🥒🐛🥒🐛🥒 Hoping these plants pump out lots of fruit before frost hits for @ftndurham 😀
Too cute! ☺️Zach helped us harvest butternut squash for @ftndurham 👨🌾Please support FTND's action against hunger
