At least we got visually appealing beet leaves even though we grew weird bulbs! 🤩  Who knew wax beans had cool red and white beans on the inside? 🌱🙂🌱 Always fun seeing mealworm frass turn into neat things 🐛😀  A big thank you to Dr. Carlos de Sousa's office at @oshawaclinicgroup for making the effort to collect so many markers and pens for recycling even in the midst of the pandemic! 🖊️😀🖊️We really, really appreciate Jessica's support in reminding everybody to bring in their used writing instruments. ✍️😄✍️  Over 51 lbs of fresh produce for @ftndurham this past week 😄 A nice end to the summer growing season for our victory garden!!! We harvested zucchini (4 lbs), cucumbers (0.75 lbs) beefsteak tomatoes (6.5 lbs), cherry tomatoes (5 lbs), & winter squash (35 lbs) 🍅🥒🍅🥒🍅This has been our biggest haul for the season! 😀  "A zucchini in a tomato bubble bath" - Zach 🛀🍅🥒 Trying to keep our victory garden going but it's getting harder with the cold temps❄️🌡️ * * * * * * * * * *  Our precocious strawberry plant (lone survivor of 25 seeds planted shortly after the start of lockdown) once again exceeded expectations, bearing these pretty and sweet strawberries! 🍓🍓🍓 No, it wasn't thanks to our mealworm frass this time 🐛😆#strawberry #summer #sweet #berries  Who said weeds can't be beautiful? 🌻If anyone knows what they are, please comment below. There are so many lookalikes! These are blooming in Southern Ontario, Canada 😄  Is it true that Southern Ontario is notoriously bad for growing bell peppers? 🌶️We only got a few of these, despite our awesome, environmentally-friendly mealworm frass 🐛🤔 And we don't think more are coming with the cold!  A splendidly colourful variety of veggies harvested for @ftndurham last week: 7 lbs winter squash, 23 lbs beefsteak tomatoes🍅, 3 lbs pounds cherry tomatoes 🍅, 1.5 lbs cucumber🥒, 2 lbs zucchini🥒, and 2.5 lbs snap beans! That's 39 lbs in total 😀 Please support the fight against hunger!  |
