Operation EcoPen is so excited to participate in the Crayon Initiative. This is an awesome program operating from the US to recycle used crayons to make newer crayons for sick kids in hospitals. We're so happy to be able to do our part north of the border. We're collecting crayons from restaurants in the GTA .

It's hard to find affordable housing today in Toronto and the GTA - for birds too! That's why my friends and I set up a CleanRiver Bird Nesting Box as part of Project NestWatch! It provides a safe place for birds to lay their eggs and nest.
Dropped off ~2,000 mealworms at the Toronto Wildlife Centre. They are nutritious for many types of animals. I raised these mealworms myself by feeding them healthy leftover vegetable scraps. This helps reduces food waste and helps us raise food for animals in need!
Thanks so much to Celina Caesar-Chavannes and her team for giving Operation EcoPen a try! We love her ecofriendly initiatives such as #CommunityCleanup with #TeamCelina and recycling milk bags into mats with Whitby Federal Youth Council. Maybe Catherine McKenna #TeamMcKenna would like to try Operation EcoPen, too, since the federal government plans to reduce plastic waste https://www.cbc.ca/…/environment-g7-oceans-plastic-waste-ca…The intergovernmental panel on climate change has issued a dire warning to our generation. https://www.nytimes.com/…/cli…/ipcc-climate-report-2040.html. Everywhere we look around, our parents our scurrying around doing everything they can to ensure us a better future whether it's taking us activities or helping us with our homework. And the greatest irony is that if nothing changes, we will be left with a world where none of that matters. Perhaps it is time that our generation needs to stand up and fend for ourselves.
We raised $400 for Feed the Need in Durham this summer with our Kernels Extraordinary Popcorn sales. A big thank you to the Oshawa Clinic, Taunton Health Centre, and Courtice Health Centre communities for supporting FTND in alleviating hunger.
Derek and I are training up the next generation of Operation EcoPen volunteers. Our brother, Zach, is helping us to drop off used writing instruments at our local Staples.
Luke and I had a great time selling Kernels popcorn to raise money for Feed the Need in Durham, Thanks to all our patrons at the Oshawa Clinic! And a special thanks to Ms. Michel Henry for helping us to organize the popcorn sale and getting the word out!
Volunteered for the Green Team at the Toronto Ribfest today! We learned a lot about organizing recycling and composting. A big thank you to Liz Read, Barry Friesen, and Steven Pinnock! What an awesome recycling program! Hope we can get other ribfests on board.
